Bangkok Set to Have Second Airport

Stories about Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi Airport appear on the front pages of newspapers in Bangkok nearly every day. Apparently the place is falling apart already. The workmanship and construction materials involved were so sub-standard that one paper here has called Suvarnabhumi "a monument to (the) corruption" of the last government. The good news is that good old Don Muang Airport is set to reopen in April, and Bangkok will join the ranks of cities like London, Paris, Tokyo, New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles that have two major airports. There is no news yet about which and how many airlines will move back to Don Muang. However, for the first months the airport will handle only domestic flights that have no international connections.

Phuket Pride

There is still time (but not much) to make arrangements to enjoy this year's Phuket Pride festival. The weekend celebration begins on Friday, March 30 with a volleyball tournament, pride carnival and grand opening party on Patong Beach.  On Saturday, a "Be Free and Happy" beach party and concert. The big parade and finale party are planned for Sunday. Want to join in? Just let us know. Phuket's parade is certainly among the world's most fun and most colorful, and all the pleasures of Phuket make it even more exciting.

Allen Briggs

Anyone who has been a regular visitor to Pattaya or who has visited has encountered Allen Briggs, one of the finest people we know here. You may have met him yourself. Allen has contributed selflessly to the community here for many years. You may not know that Allen is recovering from a major surgery for life-threatening problems with both his heart and his brain. Unfortunately, Allen is retired and his insurance does not cover a substantial portion of the cost of his care. His many friends here have established a fund to help cover his expenses and care for him during his recovery. To read more go here. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Where to Stay

We constantly fine-tune our programs and we listen closely to what our customers have to say about the hotels we use. Here are three hotels we have added to our packages. We know you will love them:

You will love this stylish boutique hotel on Bangkok's Silom Road. All of Silom's famous nightlife is a short walk away. Triple Two Silom is memorable for its sleek, contemporary architecture and interior design. The hotel's  stunning guest rooms feature the latest in technology, including electronic safes, fireproof doors, electronic security system, DVD player, internet access, work station and much more. With only 75 rooms Triple Two Silom is intimate, so you will enjoy personal service during your visit. We have added 222 Silom as our Deluxe hotel selection in all of our  Bangkok programs.
Central Samui Resort
Central Samui Resort (pictured on the right) has it all -- a splendid beach, swimming pools, health clubs, restaurants, bars and luxurious rooms. We especially like the little slippers guests get to use.
If you enjoy the kind of hotel that you never have to leave, Central Samui is a great choice for you.

Intercontinental Phnom Penh
The Intercontinental Phnom Penh is a five star hotel in the center of the city with all of the facilities you would expect from a world-class hostelry. The hotel gets very high marks from guests who have rated the place on several websites. We replaced the five-star property we were using before with the Intercontinental because it is a much better value. We love to find five-star hotels at four-star prices.

Our New Reciprocal Link Program

Recently we have added a links page to our website. It's a good way to recommend the websites of our friends and it helps all of us who depend on search engines.
